Location:
Puyallup Public Library
324 S. Meridian
Puyallup, WA 98371

It’s time to spruce up the Teen Zone! We’ll be decoupaging the Teen Zone table – feel free to bring magazine clippings and art to add to the table. You’ll also have access to a variety of craft materials for to work with. While we work, we’ll be watching Super Mario Bros. (PG). Way back in 1993, it seemed like a good idea to make the video game into a movie. It was not. Mario and Luigi, two wacky plumbers, undertake a daring quest to save a princess in “Dinohattan” – a hidden world where the inhabitants evolved from dinosaurs. The movie promises a live-action thrill ride that will dazzle you… you’ll only be dazzled by how terrible it is.

Petra and Calder are challenged to solve the mystery of a missing painting by figuring out hidden clues and decoding secret messages. You can have fun with codes and ciphers, too.

Part of the “Read Outside the Lines” series of programs for 4th, 5th, and 6th graders revolving around great children’s literature. Each program will include poems, a selection from the book Chasing Vermeer by Blue Balliett, and fun related activities. Note: it is not required to read Chasing Vermeer in order to enjoy these activities–but we do hope it will encourage everyone to check out the book, and other similarly great books. As an added bonus, those who attend 3 or more programs will get a FREE copy of the book. No registration required.
